Twitter blue tick and wave of accounts spreading fake news

With Musk’s decision an additional authentication tag for Twitter subscribers blue-tag at $8 per month, causing “total chaos” on the platform once the service was created, parody accounts copying the original accounts flooded the platform, confusing users and making it hard to tell them apart. The most famous of these events was documenting a satirical account parodying Eli Lilly’s account advertising free insulin for diabetics. The tweet went viral as thousands celebrated the decision before it was debunked and paid for. The tweet shook the company’s stock and cost it millions.
